How to Fix Contact Names Showing as Numbers Only in iOS

Recently, a brand new bug has popped up in iOS in which it displays that all of your contacts have been deleted with the contact names not visible in any Smartphone call logs or messages.

This may undoubtedly cause confusion and panic for a regular iPhone user, giving the impression that you will be lost all your contact names and information from your Smartphone.

Reboot Your Smartphone

The very simple solution is to restart your Smartphone; This may usually fix the names of the missing contacts.

You will be able to power off and then power on the Smartphone as you would do always or you can do a hard reboot, to hard reboot/Force restart your Smartphone, Follow the steps given below.

Force Restart iPhones without Home Buttons

Step Number 1: First, You will need to press and release the volume up button.

Step Number 2: Now press and release the volume down button.

Step Number 3: Here I will recommend you to press and hold the power button.

Step Number 4: Keep on holding the Power button until you see the Apple logo display on the screen on your Smartphone. This shows that your Smartphone has successfully restarted.

Force Restart iPhones with a Home Button

First, you will need to press and hold the power button and home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo on the screen of your Smartphone, This shows that your Smartphone has successfully restarted.

If you are done, simply re-launch the Phone app and messages app, and you must see the contact information restored and visible as normal.

Check iCloud Contacts Settings

Number 1: First, You will need to go to the Settings app on your Smartphone.

Number 2: Here click on your iCloud ID on the top of the screen.

Number 3: Now click on the iCloud and look under app using iCloud. I will probably recommend you to make sure that “Contacts” is toggled to ON and enabled.

One thing you should keep in mind that you will need to keep iCloud contacts on in order to have the contact names display in your apps.
